Do you know who you are in Christ?

Many born-again believers are unnecessarily suffering from an identity crisis. The truth is, you are an ambassador of the Kingdom of God and your righteousness is of Him. He has given you His righteousness. Sin is no longer a part of your identity (2 Corinthians 5:17-21).

As a believer, you have a covenant with God. You are a new creation with a new identity, new life, and a new government that backs the great and precious promises that are part of the atonement of Christ. Justice has been established and God has given you authority to use His name. His power has been imparted to you for the benefit of releasing the kingdom of God throughout this earthly realm.

The power and authority of God’s Word operates through you! Jesus is the government supporting you, empowering you and backing you. You have been given the authority to bind, and to loose. Whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven (Matthew 18:18). Jesus bears the responsibility of seeing His Word come to pass.

Don’t be deceived! It’s vital to know who you are in Christ.

Paul said in 2 Corinthians 11:3, “But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.” (NKJV) What Paul is saying is, don’t be deceived. The same deception that the enemy used with Adam and Eve is the same deception that he tempts believers with today. Satan convinced them to question their identity. In Matthew 4:3-11 the enemy even tried to temp Jesus to doubt His identity as the Son of God:

Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.” But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’” Then the devil took Him up into the holy city, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, 6 and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down. For it is written: ‘He shall give His angels charge over you, and, In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone.’” Jesus said to him, “It is written again, ‘You shall not tempt the LORD your God.’” Again, the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. And he said to Him, “All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me.” Then Jesus said to him, “Away with you, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the LORD your God, and Him only you shall serve.’” Then the devil left Him, and behold, angels came and ministered to Him. (NKJV)

Satan’s tactics haven’t changed. Don’t fall for it! If you are tempted to doubt your identity, you’ll be tempted to doubt all sorts of other things too: Are you really healed? Are you really forgiven? Are you really a child of God?  Do you really believe the Hope of Glory lives in you and that His power is at your disposal?  Do you really believe?

James 4:7 declares that we should submit to God and resist the devil, just like Jesus did. Don’t be deceived. Know who you are and whose you are!

You are His workmanship created in Christ Jesus (Ephesians 2:10)! And, nothing can separate you from the love of God (Romans 8:35).
