Living as a Hostage?

Deception is the greatest thing that Christians endure. Vain imaginations (pictures) and thoughts that rise up can easily take us into fear, anxiety, immorality, and even deep depression.  2 Cor 10:5 – Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of the word of God. The word of God tells us to be sober and vigilant, because the devil roams about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour..We must take all thoughts and check them!

Jn 10:10 tells us that the devil comes for no other reason than to kill steal and destroy. Simply put… the enemy is paralyzing Christians with vain imaginations. When we submit to these imaginations, we give him power over the emotion part of us,  The scriptures tell us that “as we think in our hearts so are we.” Satan knows that if we submit to “His” thoughts and pictures, we will become accused, secluded, tormented, and eventually defeated. We must see him as he is….the author of deception.

The Power to overcome is in your Identity

Truly, God is the author of all power and authority. As New Creations, we have been empowered with His ability to overcome.  1 Jn 4:17 tells us that as He is, so are we in this world. In the old testament, people were not born again, nor was it possible for the spirit of Jesus to live in them.

But in the New Testament, once we become Christians, the old part of us that was separated from God is gone and the new creation has come. We now operate as spiritual beings, with the authority to resist the devil and make him flee from us.  1 John 4:18 (KJV) There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment . He that feareth is not made perfect in love. Once we are born again, we have been perfected in love.

The Clock is Ticking

We need to know the truth of our identity so we can fight against the wiles or deception of the devil.  Luke 9:1 tells us that we have been given authority over all devils!  So we need to ask ourselves this question…”what on earth are we waiting for?” What is stopping us from acting on the truth? God has fully equipped us through the spirit of Jesus Christ. How much longer shall we wait? How long will be continue living as hostages…caught up in the vanity of our minds? The Lord said “whom the Sons sets free is free indeed”. Are we free…? The answer is yes!

Let us therefore submit to God and resist the devil so that he flees. If we don’t resist him, he will not leave us. We must take every though and check it against the word of God.  God’s thoughts are for our good and not for our evil. Our soulish realm must to be renewed to the truth of our new identity in Christ. All things have been made new in Him. We  are suffering from a lack of knowledge. Hos 4:6

Be empowered by knowledge!
